The Norwegian authorities will transfer over $13.5 million to Kiev for the maintenance of eight Leopard 2 A4 tanks that the country previously supplied to Ukraine, Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said.

"Given the need for support, repair, and maintenance of donated materials, Norway will provide up to NOK 150 million ($13.58 million) for the maintenance of Leopard 2 A4 tanks at a maintenance center in Poland," Gram said in a statement released by the country’s government on Friday (26 April).

Over the winter, Norway has delivered military equipment worth about 1 billion Norwegian kroner from the country's armed forces to Ukraine, according to the Norwegian government. The support included artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, minesweepers and support for the maintenance of tanks.

In 2023 Oslo provided Ukraine with 19.9 billion kroner, of which 11 billion kroner were allocated for military assistance.

Russia has consistently warned the West against continued arms deliveries to Ukraine, arguing they will do nothing but escalate hostilities and prolong the conflict. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that any foreign military cargo intended for Ukraine will be a legitimate target for Russia.
