Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview published on Saturday (25 May) that he supports the idea of banning Russian media as "propagandist," but opposes blocking other media sources.

The Ukrainian president agreed to be interviewed in Russian, saying he would not do so if the journalists came from Russia.

"Blocking media is not the right thing to do. Blocking propagandist channels is absolutely the right thing to do," said Zelenskyy.

When asked to comment on his legitimacy as president, Zelenskyy said that he had "no worries" regarding the issue.

Zelenskyy's presidential mandate expired on May 20. The 2024 presidential election in Ukraine was canceled due to martial law and general mobilization. Zelenskyy said that the election was now "untimely."
