Embassy of Bangladesh in Japan, UNIDO ITPO Tokyo and Startup Bangladesh Ltd. jointly organized a Webinar on “Investment Opportunities in Startups in Bangladesh” on Tuesday (26 September). Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) supported the event. State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the Chief Guest of the program.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak in his speech highlighted the huge progress of Bangladesh in the IT sector in the past years. He referred to the government's plans for the development of the emerging startup sector in Bangladesh and urged Japanese investors to come forward to invest in this sector.
Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Japan Shahabuddin Ahmed in his welcome remarks, requested Japanese companies to recruit IT Professionals from Bangladesh.
Managing Director and CEO of Startup Bangladesh Limited Sami AHMED made keynote presentation on ‘Investment Opportunities in Startups in Bangladesh’ and highlighted incentives for investors and prospects in investments in startups in Bangladesh. Two Bangladeshi startups, HISHAB (FinTech) and ShareTrip (TravelTech) made pitch presentation. Motoyuki ODACHI from Cipher Core Co. Ltd., a Japanese company shared investment experiences in Bangladesh.
Head of UNIDO ITPO Tokyo Fumio ADACHI gave opening remarks while Country Representative of JETRO Yuji ANDO delivered presentation on “Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh for Japanese Companies”.
Minister (Commerce) of Bangladesh Embassy Dr. Ariful Haque explained the support services to Japanese companies by the embassy. More than 200 participants from Bangladesh and Japan attended the webinar.
