Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB), the proud producer of children’s educational show ‘Sisimpur’, will collaborate to raise awareness about safe use of internet for educational purposes, and promoting safe internet practices among children and parents. Sisimpur will also work on creating awareness among students and teachers of 100 government primary schools under BTRC’s 'Digitization of Education in Government Primary Schools in Underserved Areas' project on safe internet usage.

This initiative will be implemented under the 'Safe Internet for Early Childhood Development' project implemented by Sesame Workshop Bangladesh and funded by Internet Society Foundation.

In this regard, on Monday (April 1st), a MoU was signed between Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and Sesame Workshop Bangladesh (SWB). Lt. Col. S M Rezaul Rahman, PSC, Director, Signals, Systems and Services Division of BTRC and Mohammad Shah Alam, Managing Director of SWB, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations. At the time, Director General (System and Services Division) of BTRC Brigadier General Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, ndc, psc was present.

Under this collaboration, BTRC and SWB will continue to explore avenues to promote safe usage of internet for educational purposes among 3 to 8 years old children and communities in urban and marginalized communities of Bangladesh. To reach the vision of a Smart Bangladesh, this partnership promises to be a critical pathway as it will work closely with the children, teachers and the communities.
