Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto decided to send Sri Lanka into bat first after winning the toss in the three-match T20 International series-opening game today at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

The hosts handed the debut to Jaker Ali Anik, a young guy who demonstrated a strong performance in the recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Jaker was not in the squad initially but the injury of offspinner Aliss Al Islam paved his way to walk into the squad and now he found a place in the best XI too.

Bangladesh will be missing their key allrounder Shakib Al Hasan as he was ruled out of the series due to his eye problem.

Sri Lanka, which recently won a T20 series against Afghanistan, will be missing its captain and key allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who was banned for two matches by ICC.

Both teams are playing the series with the T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies in mind.
