Europian giant Real Madrid captain Nacho Fernández ended his career less than a few weeks after lifting the Champions League trophy in London. Madrid announced Nacho’s decision on Tuesday (24 June)
Three weeks before the club defeated Borussia Dortmund at Wembley for the club’s record-extending 15th European Cup triumph. It was the sixth time Nacho won the Champions League with Madrid, and his first as captain.
Nacho has won 26 trophies with Madrid, this record he shares with Luka Modric.
Nacho played for the club since he was 10 years old in 2001. He played for the big sides for nearly two decades.
“Real Madrid would like to thank and express our appreciation to Nacho, one of the club’s biggest legends,” the club said.
Nacho did not say where he will play next, but Spanish media said he is set to join a team in Saudi Arabia.
