Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Hashan Mahmud on Friday (19 April) said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking the country forward by overcoming all the obstacles and challenges.

He said Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina did not get upset after repeatedly returning from the valley of death, instead she took forward the caravan of people's struggle with a more solid position, and put the country on the seat of dignity and honor in the heart of the world.

Hasan made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a book launching ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He unveiled of the book 'Bhubanjora Sheikh Hasinar Asankhani" written by journalist and Director General of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB) Zafar Wazed, who was awarded the Ekushey Padak.

The foreign minister returned home after attending the "9th Our Ocean Conference" held in Greece.

He said that leadership like Sheikh Hasina is rare in today's world.

"She is not only the leader of the country, she is the world leader today. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that Sheikh Hasina is not only his inspiration but also an inspiration for his children. India's Priyanka Gandhi hugs Sheikh Hasina and says Sheikh Hasina is her her inspiration. The ambassador of Palestine said that if there was a Sheikh Hasina in the Arab world, maybe the war in Gaza could have been stopped," Hasan said.

Not only that, he said, when Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina attends any world meeting, she becomes the center of attention.

The Foreign Minister thanked writer Zafar Wazed for the book.

During the exchange of views with the journalists, the Foreign Minister said 285 members of Myanmar's border guard police and army who have taken shelter in Bangladesh have been given clearance to return by sea by a Myanmar ship.

On April 22, 150 Bangladeshis who were stuck in Myanmar will return home by the same ship.

However, he said, the ship's journey depends on the condition of sea and the situation in Myanmar.

Awami League joint general secretary said BNP's greatest political weakness is to knock on foreigners' doors for anything.

"Instead of going to the source of power in Bangladesh, if they go to the foreigners, the foreigners will not put the BNP in power," he said.

And Awami League believes in the power of the people, Hasan said.

"The people voted and elected Awami League and gave the responsibility of running the country. As a result, the speech of BNP leaders seems like a circus," he said.
