Bangladesh received investment proposals of Tk 33,806.29 crore from some 302 industrial units between January and March of this year. The 302 industrial units were registered with the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) during this period, said a press release.

According to the press release, Tk 17,636.9 crore came as local investment proposals while Tk 16,169.37 crore involved foreign investment proposals.

Out of the 302 industrial units, some 270 are local and 18 are foreign while 14 units are joint ventures. The investment proposals from local and foreign entrepreneurs are expected to create 4,735 job opportunities in the country.

BIDA is the apex investment promotion agency of Bangladesh and was formed in 2016 under the BIDA Act 2016 to promote and facilitate local and foreign private sector investment. Its role is to diversify opportunities for private sector growth, enhance the business climate and provide world-class services to domestic and foreign investors.

Moreover, BIDA is an advocate for business-friendly policies and hosts the online One Stop Service (OSS) portal – the country’s first interoperable platform for delivering the investor services of many agencies from a single point.
