Bean cultivation gaining popularity as cash crop in Bhola

Extensive bean cultivation gaining popularity as a cash crop which change the lot of hundreds of farmer in Bhola district.

Hundreds of unemployed youth of Bhola sadar, Borhan Uddin, Daulatkhan and Charfassion upazila of Bhola district engaged themselves with multiple vegetarian crops like bean and cucumber production for over last ten years.

During a visit in Joy Nagar village f Daulat khan upazila and it is found that the bean farmers are engaged to reap and nursing their land. At the time one Sala Uddin said that he has been engaged with bean cultivation for last five years. He added that he sold bean about tk- 2 lakh during the time and expected get profit about tk- 1.5 lakh this seasion from two acres of land.

Another bean farmer Nurul Hoque of vedhuria Union of Bhola said that over hundreds of youth farmers are employed themselves by vegetables  farming in this union financially benefited.

While contacted officials of the Department of Agriculture Extension Bhola said that a total of about 1407 hectares of land were brought under the bean cultivation in this district this year. Which is over one hundred hectares  more than that of last seasion.

Hasan Warishul Kabir deputy director of DAE Bhola said that the farmers of this district are much interested  to cultivate short term crops to be  more financial benefit. He added that huge vegetables exported from Bhola to Dhaka, Cumilla  and Chattogram every day.
