Three and a half months have elapsed since the daring robbery at a Dutch-Bangla Bank agent outlet in Bhatkhali Bazar, Morelganj of Bagerhat, yet details surrounding the incident remain shrouded in mystery.

Despite complaints from the victimized businessman, no case has been officially registered at the Morelganj police station, leaving traders in the market apprehensive about their safety.

The incident occurred at the M/s Mayer Doa Enterprise agent branch of Dutch Bangla Bank in Bhatkhali Bazar, Putikhali Union, Morelganj, on the night of Tuesday, November 28. Unknown perpetrators forcibly broke through shutters, glass doors, and iron vaults, making off with a staggering 8 lakh 85 thousand cash and 3 tons of gold ornaments. The brazen nature of the robbery sent shockwaves throughout the market, instilling fear among both traders and residents.

Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, with Morelganj Circle Additional Superintendent of Police SM Ashikur Rahman and Morelganj Police Station OC Md Saidur Rahman conducting inspections following the incident. However, despite a written complaint filed by Md. Naim Rakib, Acting Director of the Dutch Bangla Bank agent outlet, no formal case has been lodged with the police station to date.

The unsettling events didn't stop there, as three additional shops, including a gold store, fell victim to robberies on the same fateful night in Bhatkhali Bazar. Concerns regarding the lack of resolution and security measures have left traders and residents deeply unsettled.

Bagerhat Additional Superintendent of Police Raselur Rahman assured ongoing investigations into the incident, emphasizing that despite an initial oral complaint, an official written statement is yet to be submitted. Rahman affirmed that legal action would be pursued once a formal complaint is received, offering a glimmer of hope for justice in the face of adversity.
