The long-awaited widening project of the 56 km road from Bangabandhu Tunnel to Chakaria is set to commence, marking a significant step forward in enhancing the communication infrastructure in South Chattogram. With an estimated cost of Tk 300 crore, this project holds the promise of transformative changes for the region's transportation network.

According to sources within the Roads and Public Ways Department, the development of the Patia-Anwara-Banshkhali-Toitong road will soon kick off, likely within the next year. This crucial artery, which connects several key areas including Anwara, Banshkhali, and Chakria, will witness a substantial elevation from its current stature of 18 feet to an impressive 34 feet. Such enhancements are poised to expedite economic activities, particularly towards Cox's Bazar, consequently bolstering the potential of the surrounding economic zones.

Notably, the proposal to elevate the road from Kala Bibi Dighi to Chakaria has been forwarded to the relevant authorities. Upon implementation, it is anticipated to significantly alleviate transportation challenges for millions of commuters in South Chattogram. Suman Singh, the Executive Engineer of Chattogram South Road Division, emphasized the anticipated surge in vehicle utilization through the Bangabandhu Tunnel, underscoring the urgency of infrastructure upgrades.

The endeavor to widen the road network around the Bangabandhu Tunnel is a testament to the region's commitment to fostering connectivity and economic growth. With a project cost of Tk 300 crore allocated towards this initiative, stakeholders are hopeful for its expeditious approval in the coming months, followed by swift tender proceedings.

Presently, land acquisition efforts are underway along the Patia-Anwara-Banshkhali (PAB) road, signaling tangible progress towards the project's realization. The envisaged expansion from 18 feet to 34 feet holds the promise of smoother travel experiences, mitigating the prevalent risks of traffic congestion and accidents.

Suman Singh reiterated the strategic vision behind these infrastructural endeavors, aiming for a paradigm shift in the region's communication network. The Patia-Anwara-Banshkhali-Toitong road development project, if greenlit, is poised to redefine connectivity between Chattogram and Cox's Bazar, ushering in a new era of accessibility and safety for millions.

The impending road-widening initiatives underscore a concerted effort towards fostering regional development and connectivity. With millions set to benefit from improved transportation infrastructure, these endeavors represent a pivotal milestone in the journey towards a more prosperous and accessible South Chattogram.
