The upazila administration has taken a remarkable initiative to guide and provide education to fifty students who have lost their schooling in the Char area of Chilmari in Kurigram. They have established a unique school by collaborating with the locals and the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO). A temporary mobile school has been set up in a shelter project to ensure education for approximately four hundred families.

Currently, there are fifty students enrolled in the school. The residents of the area are requesting official recognition for the school, emphasizing the need for government support or intervention.

In Amtala Char, located in Chilmari Union of Upazila, a primary school has been established within a shelter project. The school has been named Amtala Shahid Muktijoddha Primary School. Amtala River, which emerged from the Brahmaputra River a few years ago, has remained stable, allowing over four hundred families to settle in Char. The shelter project was constructed in 2017 to provide a permanent residence. Presently, teaching activities are being conducted in a temporary room within the shelter project.

In late last year, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, visited Amtala Char upon learning about the children deprived of education. He consulted with the locals and established a temporary primary school within a shelter center in the village. The school was subsequently named Amtala Shaheed Muktijoddha Primary School.

Najma Akhtar, one of the teachers, mentioned that she is providing her services for a small salary, dedicating her talent and effort to fostering the children's interest in education. She expressed gratitude for the initiative taken by the UNO and highlighted their collective effort with the locals to educate the children. She urged for the school to be officially recognized soon.

The Upazila Executive Officer, Md. Mahbubur Rahman, mentioned that their efforts aim to ensure that no child is deprived of the light of education. Recognizing the absence of a school in the area, various measures have been taken with the assistance of the locals to prevent student dropout.
