Autorickshaw -pickup collision leaves 2 dead in Sirajganj

The driver and a passenger of a CNG-run autorickshaw were killed and two others sustained injuries as it collided with a pickup truck in Sirajganj's Ullapara upazila on Wednesday (8 May) morning.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Gafur, 55, autorickshaw driver of Charia Shika Mathpara village of Ullapara upazila, and Nazrul Islam, 47, a passenger of the autorickshaw and son of Abdul Mannan of Dhopakandi village of the same upazila.

The accident occurred around 10am when the Shahzadpur-bound autorickshaw collided with the pickup truck coming from the opposite direction at Brommokapalia area on Nagarbari-Bogura highway, Md Abdul Wadud, officer-in-charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.

Rahim died on the spot and Nazrul died on the way to the hospital, said the OC, adding that the injured were admitted to Ullapara Upazila Health Complex.

On information, police recovered the bodies and brought them to the police station.
