Ruling Awami League-nominated mayoral candidate Abul Khair Abdullah alias Khokon Serniabat has unofficially won in the Barisal City Corporation elections.
The results were published on Monday (12 June) evening.
Returning Officer Humayun Kabir announced the unofficial result at night.
Abul Khair Abdullah received 87,808 (61.9%) votes while his nearest contender Islami Andolan Bangladesh's candidate Mufti Syed Mohammad Faizul Karim received 33,828 (23.9%) votes so far.
Voting for 30 wards of Barisal City Corporation (BCC) polls was held from 8am-4pm on Monday.
