Golam Rabbani Nadeem, the journalist who was injured in an attack by miscreants, succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital on Thursday (15 June) afternoon.

Nadim was the Jamalpur district correspondent of online news portal Banglanews24.com. The hospital Police Camp sub-inspector Rafiqul Islam confirmed the matter.

Locals and family sources said miscreants attacked Nadeem in Pathati area of Bakshiganj Bazar in Jamalpur on Wednesday (14 June) night on his way home after professional duty, leaving him injured.

Locals rushed him to Bakshiganj Upazila Health Complex and from there, he was admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital for better treatment.

Later, he was taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where he died.

Nadeem's wife Monira Begum alleged that the men of Sadhupara Union parishad chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu carried out the attack on him over publishing news and she demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in the incident.

Refusing the allegation, UP chairman Babu said he has no enmity with Nadeem and no link to the attack.

Earlier on April 11, Nadeem came under attack over a news publication.
