America Bangladesh Journalist Forum President Sharif, Secretary Awal Chowdhury

America Bangladesh Journalist Forum (ABSF), an organization of journalists working in various media based in the United States, has announced the committee. President Sharif Uddin Sandwipi, USA representative of SA TV and General Secretary Ekushey Television's senior staff reporter Awal Chowdhury were elected.

The organization's nine-member 2023-2024 (two-year) executive committee was announced on Friday (27 October) evening in the hall of the OSA School, 504 McDonald Avenue, Brooklyn, New York.

At this time, the full committee was announced by the president of the program, prominent columnist Samsuddin Azad, according to a press release sent on Tuesday.

The other members of the committee are Jago News senior reporter Murad Hossain as co-chairman, Business Post's staff reporter Shaheen Howladar as joint general secretary, ATN Bangla journalist Alamgir Kabir as treasurer, Abu Sayem as organizational secretary, Zafar Uliah as publicity editor (Jugantar) and Mazharul Islam (Joyjatra) and Kamrul Islam in executive positions.

Israt Jahan, Counsellor & Head of Chancery of Bangladesh Consulate General Office in New York was present at the event. He said, only journalists can bring real information to people. I applaud this organization. American expatriates are sending huge amount of remittances to Bangladesh. Their hard earned money is helping the development of Bangladesh. We are taking care that no one should suffer when expatriates come to seek services.

Work is underway to resolve the National Identity Card (NID) issue for expatriates living in the United States. Let's hope that this problem of American expatriates will be solved soon.

Under the direction of joint general secretary of the organization Shaheen Howlader, prominent businessman Mohammad Abul Hashem, president of Bangladesh Muslim Center, special guests were community leader Mamunur Rashid Mamun, community leader Jahangir Alam, businessman Soltan Ahmed, businessman Mohammad Parvez, owner of Osa School Yasi Arafat and many others.
