A man, his wife and his son were killed and 20 others injured in a triangular collision between two passenger buses and a truck at Ramnathpur Border Ghar point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway here on Saturday (8 July).

"The mishap occurred when the two passenger buses and the truck overturned and fell down into a roadside ditch after the collision killing the father and son there at 11:30 pm," Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Rangpur Highway Circle Zahidur Rahman Chowdhury told this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Md. Al Amin, 35, and his son Mahin, 5, of village Radha Krishnapur under Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district. Alamin's wife Mithali Begum died on the way to the hospital.

The passenger buses and truck were salvaged while its driver and helper managed to flee from the scene soon after the accident.

“The passenger buses and truck have been seized and a case has been lodged with Pirganj Police Station in this connection,” the ASP added.
