EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell will take part in the first meeting of G7 foreign ministers under Italy's presidency, scheduled for April 17-19 on the island of Capri, the European External Action Service (EEAS) said on Tuesday (16 April).
"High Representative Josep Borrell will travel to Capri on 17-19 April to participate in the first fully-fledged G7 Foreign Ministers' meeting under the Italian Presidency this year. The participants will discuss a number of major foreign policy issues as well as global challenges in security, development and connectivity," the EEAS said in a statement.
The top EU diplomat will join G7 discussions on the latest developments in the Middle East and the Red Sea, as well as on the conflict in Ukraine. He is also expected to hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the gathering, according to the statement.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will also attend the meeting to discuss further support for Ukraine, the statement said.
