Palestinian movement Hamas said on Monday (6 May) that the resistance, led by its Qassam Brigades military wing, is ready to defend Palestinians in the event of an Israeli operation in the Gazan city of Rafah.
The Times of Israel reported earlier in the day that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had started calling on Palestinians to leave the eastern part of Rafah ahead of the planned military operation. The Israeli military advises the local population to move to humanitarian zones in the Al Mawasi and Khan Younis areas. Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh later said that Palestine calls on the US administration to act immediately to prevent Israel's operation in Rafah.
"The military operation in Rafah will not be a walk in the park for the fascist occupation army, and our valiant resistance, led by the Qassam Brigades, is fully prepared to protect our people, defeat this enemy, thwart its plans and thwart its goals," the movement wrote on Telegram.
