As the scorching heatwave keeps the school gates shut across the Capital, the French International School in Baridhara defied the norm, bustling with activity on Wednesday, April 24. While the closure held for most, the school's grounds became a melting pot of cultures as privileged students mingled with their underprivileged counterparts from nearby slums.

A special event facilitated an exchange of ideas between fifty students from the French International School and the IDKIDS Slum School. Amidst vibrant performances of song and dance, the air was filled with the spirit of camaraderie and celebration. The day's agenda, brimming with cultural exchanges, also paid homage to the recent Bengali New Year, with traditional dances adding to the festivity.

The IDKIDS Slum School Project, supported by the We Act for Kids Foundation, operates 25 schools in Mirpur's slums, aiming not only to provide education but also to nurture talents through music, dance, art, and sports classes. For them, education transcends textbooks, focusing on fostering creativity and confidence in children, ultimately aiming to uplift their quality of life.

The event witnessed the presence of not just students but also representatives from various organizations, including Yohann from the French Embassy, Karim from French International School, Audrey and Kutay from IDKIDS and Cecile Delivre and Wahidul Haque represented the We Act for Kids Foundation.

In the amalgamation of diverse backgrounds and aspirations, today's event echoed a resounding message: the creation of a society founded on inclusivity and equality, where every child has the opportunity to thrive.
