In the quiet village of Kacharipara, a heart-wrenching scene unfolded. Aleya Begum, a grief-stricken mother, could not contain her sorrow as she mourned the loss of her son, Golam Rabbani Nadim, a journalist who was brutally attacked and killed.

With tears streaming down her face on Friday, she pleaded with the people to ensure justice for the murder of her son, a journalist she proudly described as "fearless." Aleya Begum said, "My son was a fearless journalist in Bakshiganj. There are no other fearless journalists here like my son."

Despite the efforts of locals who rushed him to the nearest health facilities, Rabbani's condition deteriorated, and he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

The 65-year-old Aleya Begum, devastated by the loss of her son, placed the blame squarely on Mahmudul Alam alias Babu, the chairman of Sadhurpara Union Parishad (UP in Bakshiganj.

According to her, Rabbani's murder was a direct consequence of his brave reporting, which exposed the alleged wrongdoings of Babu. She fervently demanded that justice be served, calling for Babu's arrest and the harshest punishment possible, capital punishment.

“I want Babu to be hanged. I want capital punishment for the murder of my son. You (people) all will ensure justice of the murder. [I] want justice from the people,” she cried.

Rabbani's wife, Monira Begum, also spoke out against Mahmudul, stating that he had previously attempted to harass her husband in various ways. Monira pointed to Babu's followers as the culprits behind the heinous crime and called for exemplary punishment for the killers.

Besides, the police, swift to respond to the incident, detained six individuals after scrutinising the available CCTV footage. A relentless search is underway to apprehend the remaining attackers, who have since gone into hiding. The authorities assure the public that the culprits will be brought to justice by any means necessary.

However, it is disheartening to note that no official complaint has been filed with any police station regarding Golam Rabbani's murder.

Rabbani’s murder took place on a fateful Wednesday night when a group of miscreants ambushed Golam Rabbani at the Pathati intersection of Bakshiganj in Jamalpur. What followed was a merciless beating, captured outside the reach of CCTV cameras, leaving him unconscious and clinging to life.

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) spokesperson Commanded Khandaker Al Moin on Friday said the elite crime busting agency is working to arrest the killers of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadim, who was brutally killed in Bakshiganj, Jamalpur.

"RAB initiated shadow probe right after the incident and has been conducting raids to nab the killers of Nadim. No matter, how powerful the killers are, they will be brought to book soon," the RAB Legal and Media Wing Director said at a press briefing held at its Karwanbazar media center on Friday noon.

Terming the killing of the journalist a very sad incident, the RAB spokesperson said RAB-14 is working to arrest the people behind the incident, which has created sensation in the country, reports BSS.

Nadim, Jamalpur correspondent of online news portal banglanews24.com, was attacked on the night of June 14 in Bakshiganj and was brutally beaten by unidentified assailants. He died of his injuries on June 15 at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Nadim's family alleged that he was receiving threats from Mahamudul Alam Babu, chairman of Sadhur Para union parishad in Bakshiganj, for publishing reports of Babu's corruption.
