Man arrested after firing shots in Taiwanese Digital Affairs Ministry

An armed man who broke into the Taiwanese Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) office in Taipei on Thursday (28 March) morning, has been arrested, the Taiwanese Central News Agency reported adding that nobody was injured.

According to the report the man entered the ministry's office at around 10 a.m. local time (02:00 GMT) and started shouting anti-government slogans.

He fired shots from a gun and damaged the glass of the ministry's main entrance and an adjacent wall, without causing any injuries.

The man later attempted to go upstairs toward the ministry's offices, but was blocked by security guards. The police arrived at the scene, arrested the shooter and cordoned off the building, the report added.
