The Bangladeshi film 'Nirbashon' (Nirvana) won the Special Jury Award at the 46th Moscow International Film Festival. Director Asif Islam received the award on the closing day of the festival on Friday in Moscow.

After receiving the award, director Asif said, “This is one of the greatest achievements of my life. Out of thousands of films from around the world, only 11 were officially selected for the festival. And our film won the Special Jury Award among them. I was stunned when they announced our film's name. Even after receiving the award, I was in a daze. I'm still trembling. I can't express myself in words. This achievement has given us so much.”

It was previously announced that the Bangladeshi film 'Nirbashon' participated in the competition section of this prestigious international festival. Director Asif and actress Priyam Archi went to Moscow to attend the opening ceremony and be present at the screening. They walked the red carpet together at the event. The film was screened at the festival on April 22 to a houseful audience who praised it highly.

On winning the award, actress Priyam said, “I'm extremely delighted. The hard work we put into ‘Nirbashon’ has been worthwhile!"

'Nirbashon' is directed by the talented young Bangladeshi filmmaker Asif Islam, based on a story and screenplay by Anwar Hossain Hossain. About the story, the director said, “Nirbashon is a poetic exploration of human emotions. It's a film about the extraordinary journey of three individuals seeking peace.”

Apart from Bangladesh's 'Nirbashon', 10 other films from countries like Russia, Germany, Iran and Romania participated in the festival.
