Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby in the film adaptation of 'Peaky Blinders'. The development was confirmed by the maker of the series, Steven Knight. The show, spanning six seasons, is currently streaming on Netflix.

Speaking to Birmingham World at the premiere of his new BBC show ‘This Town’, Knight confirmed Murphy’s return in the film adaptation of the franchise. He said, He is returning for it. We're shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.

Knight further praised Murphy for his spectacular achievement at the Oscars 2024 for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’: It was so deserved. I mean he's brilliant, and he's such a great human being, and he leads the line when we're shooting. He's so level-headed and straightforward. He deserves everything he gets.

Talks of a film adaptation for 'Peaky Blinders’ have been floating for a while now. Previously, Murphy too, had expressed his excitement to take on the project. However, he didn't confirm anything concrete. He told Variety, “If we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there.”

Also, Knight had once mentioned that the ‘Peaky Blinders’ film would revolve around World War II.

'Peaky Blinders' is a gripping British television series that delves into the murky world of the Shelby crime family in post-World War I Birmingham. Led by the charismatic Tommy Shelby, brilliantly portrayed by Cillian Murphy, the series follows their rise to power through illicit means like gambling, robbery, and smuggling.

With its stylish cinematography, complex characters, and a rich historical backdrop, 'Peaky Blinders' captivated audiences with its exploration of power, family dynamics, and the consequences of ambition
